Paris, France

The Louvre Museum located in Paris, France was originally a palace built in the 12th and 13th centuries. The remnants of the palace are actually part of the museum display!

The museum is open everyday except Tuesdays. Tickets have a timed entry so it’s recommended you prepurchase tickets. You can have your travel advisor (me) get those for you before your visit. Your timed ticket will allow you to skip the line and enter by the glass pyramid que. Have your ticket ready.

You will also need to be mindful of what you bring into the museum since you will be going through security and metal detectors. They do have an elevator for entry should you need it. Upon entering you’ll be able to enter the separate sections of the museum. Each section will require you to rescan your ticket to gain entry to make sure you keep them in an access able area. You will also find information desks with maps in a variety of different languages. There is so much to see in the museum you won’t get to see it all in one visit!

If you want to see the Mona Lisa-and of course you do-head there first! It only gets more crowded as the day goes one. You need to be prepared for stairs-stairs everywhere.. In order to see her there is a line.

Once you get to the front though there is absolutely no rhyme or reason just a complete mob of people. They do allow one person at a time up to take a picture but it’s random and again you could just be waiting in line for hours-there is no order at all-so be prepared. The earlier the better.

There are so many amazing things to see….

Italian art

Egyptian…

The Louvre is just soooooo big! Make sure you have a day just for exploring and your reservation is for early in the day.

My favorite section-Napoleon’s apartment.

The museum has a restaurant and boulangeries should you get hungry throughout the day.

There is an open area with statues too.

There is also a carousel or shopping area just outside the other main entrance.
