Nestled in the town of Giverny, France lies the home and garden of impressionist Claude Monet. One step inside and you can literally walk through Monet’s paintings and tiptoe through his famous waterlilies.
Upon arrival you’ll find free parking which is nice and bathrooms outside (so make sure you go beforehand if you need to!). You can pre-purchase tickets or buy tickets at the gate. Just let your travel agent (me) know in advance. While tickets are stamped with a timed entry they do not adhere to that so if you arrive a bit early or late you’ll still be able to enter. Once you enter take note that the first entrance is for groups-such as school groups and the second entry is for individuals.
Once you scan your tickets and enter you can either head straight into the main gardens and the house or to the water lilies area which is accessible through an underground walkway-note this will not be accessible if you are in a wheelchair or have limited mobility. We went to the main gardens first.
There you will get to walk through a pathway and a vast collection of flowers.

After we explored the house we headed down to cross the underground walkway to the waterlilies.
The whole waterlily area was just breathtaking.

The exit is located next to Monet’s house so in order to leave the complex you must make your way back to that area, enter that building and go through the gift shop. There’s also an area behind the complex which hosts a few eateries, shops and ice cream. We actually bought ice cream from an ice cream truck that hosted hand made ice cream-get it! It was the best we had our entire trip in France! I also bought a garden/sun hat at the hat shop just down the way and it was my most favorite purchase while in France!
