Griffith Observatory is located in Los Angeles, California. Griffith sits high above the Los Angeles basin. Griffith was opened in 1935 and is one of southern California’s most popular attractions. You guessed it-you’ve seen it before! Griffith is prominent is many films and television shows.

Griffith is also a great spot to see the iconic Hollywood sign!

Griffith is open to the public and free of charge so it’s a great attraction to add to your list when visiting Southern California. Parking is limited so it’s best to go either early when it opens or later before closing. Griffith is filled with free telescopes to observe with, exhibits about the sun. moon and stars, space and mythology and has three different levels to explore. Check out this cool Tesla coil!

Griffith is NOT open during most weekdays so make sure you plan accordingly. Hours are Weekday (Friday) Hours
Open 12:00 noon – 10:00 p.m. and Weekend (Saturday – Sunday) Hours Open 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. They also have a small café in case you need to grab a bite to eat while you’re there and the views….well they’re amazing!
