The Red Lion Inn is a historic inn nestled in the Berkshire Mountains in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
The Red Lion Inn was established in 1773 and was a tavern/inn notably and a place where people met during colonial times to discuss the growing outrage towards British laws in the colonies. The Inn has been through many changes over the years but remains a favorite amongst locals, presidents and celebrities. The Inn has changed hands several times but has consistently been run by the Fitzpatrick family since the 60’s. The historic porch with rocking chairs faces the main street in Stockbridge and is a great spot to sit for a spell.
Parking is available around the back of the Inn and you’ll notice a variety of historic buildings on the property which many have been saved, relocated, renovated and now house guest rooms and a fitness center. Once you park you can walk around front and enter the lobby for check in.
The lobby hosts antiques from the early 1800’s curated by previous owners and the main dining area to the back.
The check in area is quaint and adorable. You even get real keys!
There is an antique elevator just off the lobby which normally operates and regular elevators throughout the guest room area in the main inn. We chose the fun stairs!
The hallways creak and sway and are filled with odds and ends of a by gone time. You’ll also find fun little nooks and crannies filled with fun things. Oh and maybe a ghost or two on the fourth floor.
Our room was creaky and squeaky and we just loved it! It had a nice little side view, a surprisingly big closet and a small claw foot tub which was adorable!
We also had fun exploring all the sitting rooms located throughout the main inn.
There’s also the Lion’s Den which is a great spot to sit and have a drink.
And of course the pool!
The Red Lion Inn is situated in a great spot to relax and enjoy small town New England living with restaurants, bakeries and stores just a walk away.
