Orlando, Florida

We recently went on vacation to Florida to beat those winter blues but on our way back our flight got canceled! Now I’m not going to say I minded one bit being stuck in Florida for an extra night, especially since snow and sleet were waiting for us at home. We needed to stay overnight to make our new morning flight. We were lucky to be in the Orlando International Airport (MCO) and I thought….there’s that awesome airport with balconies in the center of the airport-why not! So Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport it was a man oh man was it ever convenient!

A beacon in the night!

I cannot tell you how happy I was that MCO had this option. After the stress of a flight being canceled, wandering down to baggage claim to make sure we got our bags and frantically searching for hotels with availability and shuttle service this one hit the spot!. I want to say that after this event I now keep a running list of resorts near airports we have flown or will fly to, including connecting airports so I know exactly where to go should we ever be in this position again.

We checked in and went straight to our room!

The rooms were updated and modern.
The bathroom even had a TV in the mirror.

The rooms were great, updated and cozy. We loved looking out at the balcony onto the main lobby of the airport.

The balcony doors are locked for security and safety which was a tad bit sad…. but still really nice to look out of. You would think the rooms might be a bit noisy since the lobby of the airport beneath is the main hub for all passengers to go through gate security but we didn’t hear anything.

It’s pretty cool to be in the airport after hours.

There’s even a pool on the roof!

And the best part…in the morning it was so easy to make our flight! This is also a great option for a hotel if you’re planning on doing a cruise out of Port Canaveral. You can easily fly in the night before your cruise, stay at the hotel and then get a morning transfer to the port!
